The world is tilting. Every day new issues present themselves that challenge us as humanity while at the same time a lightning-fast evolutie of artificial intelligence radically influences our way of life. What does this mean for our future? And how do we form a picture of something that is changing so rapidly?
Artists play a crucial role in this. Where science and politics confront us with facts and figures, they translate these into experiences that touch. They make it tangible, bring complex issues back to a human scale and encourage reflection and even action.
During the Nieuwe Maan Festival we offer a glimpse into the future. Besides theater and knowledge lectures, you will discover installations and hybrid forms of storytelling that don't just let you look, but let you experience. Instead of longing for what was, we focus on what is to come: with an open mind, curious and hopeful. And maybe a tad activist, too.
Program
Nieuwe Maan Festival is an invitation. To stand still. To challenge yourself. To think together about the future of humanity. Not as something abstract, but as something we are already in the middle of today. Take a look at the program below and find out which performances will color the new season.

Why the moon? Why this festival
In this festival, the moon is the symbol for transformation and connection. In the last century, the journey to the moon gave us a common purpose that made the impossible possible. That connection sometimes seems remote these days. Climate change, overpopulation, pandemics. Humanity today faces great challenges and a task of transformation.
Playwrights and forward thinkers present their perspectives on the future during Nieuwe Maan in order to inspire, activate and offer guidance to visitors. What systemic changes are needed to achieve our great fundamental ambitions for the future and those of the next generation? What role can you play in this?
