TO THE THEATER TOGETHER
Through theater you are drawn into a magical world or you get a different view of the world. You check things that stimulate your imagination, that can be beautiful, different or ugly, it can make you laugh, amazed, or perhaps uncomfortable. It does something to you. An important part of going to a performance is the shared experience together with your family and with other children.
Age range
Family and youth performances have a minimum age listed. This age limit is a starting age and is based on the content and length of the show that is appropriate for a certain age. Children who are too young often cannot follow the performance well enough or find it too exciting.
Children's festival & vacations
During the vacations there is often a lot to do and check for children. There is the Children's Theatre Week in the autumn vacation. There are performances for young and old, and extra free activities in the large foyer. In the Christmas vacations you can go to the Christmas Winter Circus, and participate in fun extras such as a carousel on the Big Foyer. On the Open Dag at the beginning of the theater season in September, there are also lots of fun activities for children.
Practical Tips
Are you and your child(ren) visiting one of the family and youth performances in the Parktheater? Then it is good to know that the Parktheater has booster seats(Hertog Jan Zaal) and a changing area. Many performances are programmed for children. At the performances the age indication is mentioned.
Booster seats for children
Theater seats are designed for adult sizes. We therefore have booster seats for children, which are available at the entrances to the auditorium before the performance. Of course, you can also bring your own cushion.
Changing
A number of restrooms in the hallway next to the Theater Café have a changing area and a trash can for diapers.
Eating at the theater, BIJ13
On Sundays, with children's performances, our theater restaurant BIJ13 is open for lunch from 12:00. Join us for lunch before or after the performance, depending on whether it starts or ends. You can walk in or make a reservation in advance.
