Lecture: Jan and Sanne Terlouw

In 2019, sustainability will be at the center of the largest reading campaign in the Netherlands, Nederland Leest. In times of climate change and large-scale environmental pollution, we all realize that it must be more sustainable. What can we do ourselves to maintain a healthy living environment for the future? We talk about this together.

Jan Terlouw picks up on this during this lecture in the Eindhoven Library. Terlouw is best known for his youth books and political career. Among other things, he wrote Koning van Katoren, Oorlogswinter and Gevangenis met een open deur. As a scientist, he was seen as an authority in the field of technology and the environment and he was mainly concerned with this both in politics and in his books.

His political interest often shines through in his books. They usually address contemporary issues such as the environment, politics or history. He shows that there are more sides to these topics, that you have to look at problems from all sides before you make a decision.

After Terlouw's retirement, the creative collaboration with his daughter Sanne, scientific practitioner of the Dutch language and writer, took flight. This resulted in the six-part crime series Reders & Reders and in March their latest book De 90ste verjaardag van Louis van Roosgaarde was published. Attention will also be paid to this on this evening.
