With sharp humor and recognizable scenes, De Belangelozen highlights the growing gap between policy and reality and the people who try to bridge it on a daily basis.

In De Belangelozen we follow Sam. A volunteer with lots of energy and big ideals. Sam dedicates himself with full conviction to people with money problems. He works his way through piles of letters, calls one creditor after another and makes budget plans in no time. No problem. Sam has understood the concept of the Participation Society. He will participate, just until he gets all the poverty out of the country.

In fast-paced scenes we jump from living room to municipal office and back again to the next living room. We check Sam, who tries to help everyone without losing himself in it. Sam knows not to go head over heels. That would be catastrophic in a country that runs on millions of volunteers.

De Belangelozen is made in close cooperation with association Humanitas. Leading up to this performance, the makers joined them as volunteers in order to be able to sketch, up close, a recognizable and human perspective of what it means to be a volunteer.

De Belangelozen is an urgent, humorous performance about how we deal with an ever-increasing group of people living in poverty. About the beauty, but also the durability of the whole ecosystem of volunteers and organizations that have jumped into the hole punched by the government. About Sam.

About Collective T&T
Collective T&T have past event making social performances with slightly humorous and sometimes absurdist undertones since their graduation. The artistic core consists of Tim Olivier Somer & Tarik Moree. For De Belangelozen they collaborate with Max Wind as writer and director. Collectief T&T finds in Max a strong social-critical voice that can color along and against in developing the performance. Max and Collectief T&T have past event familiar with each other's work since drama school and so there is already a great understanding on an artistic level. Lotte Driessen brings a third energy to het proces and to the performance as a musical maker. Collective T&T would also like to enter into this collaboration because of the connection Lotte carries with the subject and her dedication in other social (theater) work.

About Association Humanitas
Association Humanitas is a national volunteer organization, they help people to change their situation on their own and have 78 chapters all over the country. Last year the makers volunteered with Humanitas.

About Via Rudolphi Productions
Via Rudolphi Productions is a theater house that works with autonomous play makers. From recently graduated top talents to seasoned professionals who have seen the whole world. Makers with a mission: they tell their own stories that are not often told and try to shed new light on them. Our performances are recognizable, appealing, stimulating, emancipating, confrontational, sometimes uncomfortable, quasi-realistic, with a touch of tragedy and plenty of humor.
