Lucky Blue is a penetrating, rhythmic story about love, boundaries and the consequences when those boundaries fade. With brutality and disarming honesty, actor Romijn Scholten takes you on the quest of a young adult.

After the success of Liberty Bell and Happy Valley, the South Country comes in 2027 with the new, blistering tale: Lucky Blue.

A boy (played by Romijn Scholten) celebrates the end of high school with his friends. While they dream of the world outside the village, he becomes increasingly entangled in a complicated relationship with an older teacher. What begins as a confusing desire grows into a secret that slowly disrupts everything. When the teacher's ten-year-old daughter gets involved in the story, an unexpected encounter ensues that puts everything op scherp .

About the south land
The work of the south land is built on a simple premise: they make performances, for adult audiences, where children and adult actors stand on the performance floor and meet as equal players. Not separated by age, knowledge or status.

They consciously choose ambiguity in their performances. Their aim is not to present ready-made answers, but to create space for the gray area.

In 2026, the South Country created the performance Happy Valley, which received rave reviews and was named the Critic's Choice in the Theater newspaper.

"In the breathtakingly beautiful 'Happy Valley,' each scene gives an exciting new twist to the story and the underlying questions." (Marijn Lems, Theaterkrant)
