Two sisters literally and figuratively balance between their shared history and personal differences. With handstands, acro-dance and subtle irony, they reflect on their unconventional upbringing in a traveling circus family, in which family rituals provide a foothold. Sometimes to the point of obsession. Why do we cling so tenaciously to these habits? And how do we honor the rituals of those we love, even if we don't fully understand them?
In the physical performance, the sisters search together for a shared ritual. Melody wants peace, tea and a neat table. Lily wants to let loose, seeks energy and movement. As they share the play together, their worlds collide. How do you stay balanced, when the other is moving in a different direction? How do you keep yourself straight, when you have to carry something together? To complete the ritual of the performance, they must embrace their differences. Thus, the performance grows into a new ritual in which they find meaning together in a world that is always in flux.

About Melody and Lily
Melody & Lily grew up in a traveling circus family and were always on the road. Their home consisted of the backpack of belongings they carried and their daily rituals. In an environment where change was the norm, those rituals provided a foothold. Practicing circus together was one of them, but also the personal rituals around packing and unpacking or displaying their carefully chosen belongings. All those little rituals and brought possessions tell something about who we are, what we value and how we connect with ourselves or others. Before the sisters each go their separate ways, their paths cross here and now. Therefore, together they look back at the rituals they created as children, their bond as sisters and that sense of home in their nomadic existence.
