OEDIPUS tells the story of Oedipus, king of Thebes, who desperately tries to discover the cause of a deadly plague plaguing his city. When an oracle reveals that the disaster will not end until the murderer of the previous king is found, Oedipus goes all out to uncover the truth.
As he investigates, the clues pile up. What begins as a quest for justice slowly turns into a confrontational journey into his own past. Each discovery brings him closer to a truth he would rather not face.
Studio Antigone will play OEDIPUS as the breathtaking thriller it also is. With, of course, Sophocles' language, which has survived its 2,500 years with ease, as its shining centerpiece.
As in classical performances, the choruses are sung, accompanied by authentic music from the 5th century BC. OEDIPUS is a performance about truth and power, and about how a person reacts when the truth is not pleasing.
