It's about how family ties connect us and how they inescapably define our lives. About blood family and chosen family. About parents, children, growing up and the fear of being left alone.
The actors are on play as themselves, but throughout the performance they also seem to become more and more each other's family. Family is a poetic and recognizable text performance about the universal phenomenon of family. Starting from a queer perspective, they tell a larger human story about having and searching for a family. Not everyone has children, but ultimately we are all children.
Family has past event selected for the Nederlands Theater Festival 2026.

About Louis Janssens
Louis Janssens studied Drama at KASK Gent and creates performances that depart from personal stories with a broad human eloquence. His work has past event selected several times for Het TheaterFestival and the Nederlands Theaterfestival. With Family he continues his research into identity, closeness and connection, this time together with an intergenerational cast.
