THINX

A play for the theater of the future

Since 2013, we’ve past event nurturing talent for the theater of the future. THINX is a program through which we provide a play for theater artists from the region and shine a spotlight on their vision. We believe that investing in talented artists is investing in the future of the performing arts!

Innovative Program

The new generation of theater makers is redefining what theater is; social themes are becoming more important, and creators are exploring cross-pollination with other disciplines. For example, they combine film with dance, experiment with on-location theater, or produce a live podcast. We enjoy working closely with them because we believe in their creative power, vision, and fresh perspectives. By adapting to the creators’ needs and supporting them, we enable them to focus on their artistic signature. Within THINX, they explore and push the current boundaries of theater, allowing new combinations of performers and audiences to come together. Together, we’re shaping the theater of the future!

THINX creators

Through the THINX program, we support talented artists at the start of their professional careers by actively collaborating with them to explore their ambitions as creators. We provide them with the knowledge and space they need to grow in their artistic, events, and professional development. Our commitment and expertise have already helped many creators achieve their goals. Through THINX, we offer the opportunity to participate in a three-year program as
an artist-in-residence or a short-term program within THINX Lab.

THINX Artists in City: Meet the Creators

The THINX creators currently participating in a program at the Parktheater are: Xandry van den Besselaar, Luuk Ritmeester, Peer Roosen, Bas van de Ven, Inez Wouters (LaPiratesse), and Anne Leijdekkers. Would you like to get to know them? You can! Read more about our talented artists below.

Future makers

Whether it’s urban dance or spoken word, self-taught or trained at an academy, at THINX we don’t think in terms of categories—we check talent. Talent that, with the right support, can blossom into a star on play. Within the THINX program, you can experiment with interdisciplinary forms of theater. You’ll have the freedom to continue develop your artistic vision and bring it to the play. Throughout this program, you’ll receive (artistic) guidance from THINX mentor Vitória Aquino and an external coach from the field.

THINX is PLAN Brabant’s cultural partner in Eindhoven. As a THINX creator, the Parktheater will provide you with rehearsal space, performance dates at one of our theater venues, technical, logistical, and promotional support, and a small financial contribution. In addition, we’ll help you find additional funding to support your productions.

THINX Lab

THINX Lab is a short-term development program for creative artists who are in the research phase and want to discover whether their ideas work within a theatrical context. The program offers space to experiment, rehearse, and explore specific research questions. Examples include investigating the theatrical possibilities of scenographic objects, testing a set design idea with technical support, or exploring how an everyday object can take on meaning and imaginative power on play.

Creators who want to explore how different disciplines relate to theater can also test and continue develop their ideas within THINX Lab. The emphasis is on het proces: exploring, creating, refining, and discovering what works. Sometimes, creators from the lab are given the opportunity to share their research during one of the THINX evenings. If it becomes clear that theater is a lasting direction and there is a need for continue artistic development, a creator can move on to a longer development track.

Agenda

THINX open evening

Twice per theater season, we organize the THINX Open Night. It offers theater artists the chance to test out their material, share it with an audience, and build an audience for their work. It also gives visitors the unique opportunity to get to know different artists in a single evening and be surprised by a wide range of genres, styles, and forms of performance. This creates an inspiring encounter between artists and the audience, centered on discovery, experimentation, and exchange. The lineup consists of artists who are part of both the THINX Artist-in-Residence and Lab programs.
