At the same time, things are brewing in America itself. Polarization is increasing, institutions are under pressure and the midterms are approaching. From ICE to Fox News: how do Americans check their own future and that of their country? Will these midterm elections be a stress test for democracy? And is what happens there a harbinger of what lies ahead for Europe?

Laila Frank is a journalist, podcast maker and presenter. Among other things, she presents the NPO Radio 1 program Bureau Buitenland. As an America expert she is known for her interpretations at NOS and Eva. Previously she made the podcast Welcome to Washington.
