    Hertog Jan Zaal

For Rob Kemps it is clear: Jacques Brel is the greatest of all. In Don't Leave Me Alone he relates the music and life of his hero with emotion.

The greatest chansonnier of all time is not French. He is a Belgian from Flanders who spoke French. A man from Schaarbeek, who left hearth and home to gain world fame in Paris. Then he roamed the world, finally finding his peace, via Berlin, Moscow and New York, on an island diep in the Pacific Ocean. On Hiva Oa, he spent his last days. And there he is also buried.

After the success of his performance Hemel op aarde the subject for his next program was already ready; Jacques Brel. In Don't Leave Me Alone Rob takes us around the world. In the footsteps of Brel. With as much humor as emotion Rob talks about the music and especially the life of his hero. And thus also about his own life. He cannot do otherwise. Because a life without Brel is no life at all.

"The stories are wonderful and infectiously fun, worthwhile to keep telling and live is a value-added experience, as it turns out."
