Wonka Podia brings youth theater for elementary school in Eindhoven and region.
Getting as many children as possible in touch with theater and giving them a fantastic experience. With this in mind, the Wonka Podia organize an annual school tour for children in grades 5 and 6. In all Wonka theaters or on the schoolyard of the participating elementary school themselves. A wonderful collaboration between the theaters, elementary school from the Wonka municipalities and cultural coaches involved.
2023 - The Mechanic and the Girl | Youth Theatre Wildpark
For this first edition of Wonka on Tour, Youth Theatre Wildpark was connected. In collaboration with Luka Kooijmans, this company created the imaginative outdoor performance The Mechanic and the Girl. A theatrical performance with live music inspired by the silver-barrelled book: The Happy Island by M. Törnqvist. About the quest of a brave girl, who is looking for the island of happiness.
In addition to nearly 50 school performances in the schoolyards of participating elementary schools, there were also 5 public free neighborhood performances in the last week before the school vacations.
2024 - WieDeedHet | Maas Theater and Dance
The second successful edition is with Maas Theater and Dance and the stimulating, funny and accessible whodunit performance WieDeedHet. A great stepping stone for anyone, who is encountering theater watching for the first time.This was an indoor performance, played for thousands of children. In the five communities, dozens of elementary schools, totaling about 7,000 students, from both regular and special education, came to five theaters in May and June: the Parktheater, Het Speelhuis, De Schalm, De Hofnar and Kattendans. In preparation, teachers were sent a lesson plan to do assignments in the classroom beforehand. All schools also received a game as a gift to do later in class. Maas Theater and Dance played the show almost 50 times in all theaters to give all children in the region the chance to have a magical theater experience.
2025 - The performance in which hopefully nothing happens | Artemis
In the spring of 2025 the third edition of the Wonka school tour will take place, this time in cooperation with Theater Artemis from Den Bosch. Especially for Wonka Podia, they are reprising the 'Performance in which hopefully nothing happens'. We promise you nothing, but do we deliver? Performance in which hopefully nothing happens is most like a castle in the sky; nothing and everything at the same time. Bored with a moment that stumbles, a detail that gets overlooked and the next moment that doesn't. Monty Python for kids, with a performer not allowed on and a doorman desperately searching for himself. Sleep tight!
