Dutch class society finally on the chopping block

In The Drama director Florian Myjer theatrically dissects our class society with humor and painful honesty. Because that the Netherlands supposedly has no classes? That story is long outdated. No matter how hard you work, the place where you were born determines to a large extent how you will fare in life.

Led by an inspired - and not entirely unbiased - teacher, a class at a prestigious university embarks on a challenging course on class, privilege and social mobility. What begins as an idealistic project soon derails into something far more personal and painful. For as soon as the students examine their own and each other's backgrounds, shame, blind spots and hidden anger come mercilessly to light.

The audience is drawn into a confrontational class journey full of dreams, envy and longing for recognition.

The Drama is an unsettling tragicomedy, performed by actors from diverse backgrounds. Their own experiences of climbing up, adapting and being excluded form the beating heart of the story. A personal and razor-sharp performance. In your face. Hilarious. And uncomfortably recognizable The Drama leaves no one unmoved - and makes you think about what we would rather not say out loud.
