In *The Drama*, director and theater artist Florian Myjer dissects our class-based society in a theatrical way, with humor and painful honesty. Because the idea that the Netherlands supposedly has no classes is a myth that has long since past event debunked. Yet we rarely talk about it. But how do we talk to each other about class? The Drama opens up a conversation we often avoid and exposes the mechanisms that divide us.

During a debate evening at a major cultural institution, four prominent figures gather on play to finally discuss class. But what begins as an idealistic attempt to break the silence quickly turns into something more personal and confrontational. Shame, blind spots, and hidden anger are mercilessly laid bare. As the evening takes a turn no one could have foreseen, the speakers fully experience just how much their backgrounds have shaped them and how difficult it is to connect with someone who—on the surface—seems so far af from them.

Whereas Myjer dissected patriarchy through personal stories in his successful production *Pride & Prejudice*, in *The Drama* he shows how class differences are the major factor creating inequality in people’s lives. How do our dreams and desires relate to such a dominant social system?

A sharp and multi-layered performance that provokes, unsettles, and moves the audience. The Drama is a tragicomedy that is both hilarious and painfully relatable, forcing you to reflect on the things we’d rather leave unsaid.

Prior to The Drama, the anti-discrimination organization Radar is hosting a free dialogue session called “Wheel of Fortune” from 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Philips Foyer. Drawing on insights into Eindhoven’s society, you’ll take a critical look at your own position in society. You can register via this link.
