Inspired by fairy tales, comic strips and his Surinamese background, choreographer Remy Tilburg creates a powerful and expressive performance in which dancers transform into mythical flamingo figures. In doing so, the performance touches on themes such as evolutie, freedom and identity, but our relationship with fragile nature also shines through.
Tilburg was one of the leading dancers at Conny Janssen Danst for a long time. In 2024 he started his own company: IID Company. Flamingo is the sequel to the short, eponymous performance Tilburg made in 2024 for the German Ballett Theater Trier. "Compelling images of almost old-world beauty and sometimes symphonic quality."
