Dolorosa is a musical quest for humanity. Actress, soprano and theater maker Marie-Mae van Zuilen departs with full devotion from classical music. In this she is accompanied by a five-member male choir of various shapes and sizes. Together they sing themselves free of ingrained roles and patterns of victim and perpetrator.
With Dolorosa , Marie-Mae af her triptych about trauma after sexual violence. Dreaming, a musical theatrical concert about being stuck in an event, was selected for The Debut. The second part, The 7 Rooms, unfolded the wonderful world of coping mechanisms after sexual violence, through seven rooms, each with its own musical identity. Dolorosa will be her first full-length performance and her debut as a Newcomer with Orkater.
