You are young, just starting out in life, and suddenly there is fear. Not for a moment, but always. In BANG, Hanneke van der Paardt dissects the years in which everything wavers and nothing is certain. A raw, sharp and comforting monologue about fear, thinking and trying to move on.

You're nineteen, just moved up, just started a new education, and suddenly you're scared. At first you hope it's just a dip, but the fear remains. Afraid of mirrors, of eyes, of people on the street. You are startled by loud noises and af if what you hear, think and check is still true.

At twenty-five, you sit down and try to make sense of the past few years. Does it get better, or do you remain forever stuck in this endless fear. In BANG, Hanneke van der Paardt pulls her life apart and then tries to put it back together again.

BANG is about those bizarre years when you have just left your parents, but haven't arrived anywhere else yet. About how fear can grab you mercilessly in that phase and about the question of what on earth to do then.

With BANG, Hanneke van der Paardt won the BNG Theaterprijs 2025, the award for emerging theater talent in the Netherlands.
