Based on the story of Telemachus -theson of Odysseus- who stays home when his father is besieging a distant city, Hendrik de Pecker wrote a new text about the vulnerable. About those left behind. And about the legacy of an absent father.
Ellen Goemans and Joep Hendrikx perform all the roles. Two actors who switch effortlessly between realism and absurdism. Hendrik is present on the floor as a writer and literally creates the mythical world in which fairy tale and documentary alternate. How do you deal with looking like someone you never knew?
And how do you become a father if you don't have one yourself?

About Het NUT
If father is fighting is a performance by Het NUT (known from King Krump, The Order of the Day and Doekje voor het bloeden, among others). In their performances, the documentary mixes with the fiction. As an audience, you are not a spectator but an accomplice. You are involved in the narrative, questioned and challenged. The NUT calls itself the most welcoming company in the Netherlands and was named best theater company of the year by NRC in 2024.
