He leaves sun-drenched Egypt behind to fulfill his dream of acting. She grows up in rainy Holland as the daughter of Surinamese parents, dreaming of a career as a singer. When they find each other, their love is immediate and inevitable. In the big city, they build the life they always envisioned. Until the social wind in Holland turns, and slowly but surely blows into their love nest.
A time of love begins where it hurts: at the end. From there, we move back through time, to the 1990s. From lows to highs, and from disdain to curiosity. Does it manage to stay together at a time when society's tone hardens and turns increasingly against you? And eventually even seeps into your living room and relationship?
A sizzling mix of Arabic and Western music pulses through A Time of Love. Yasper Molle's compositions are the beating heart. Together with a live band, Dwight Breinburg and the actors, among others, create an organic, rousing sound of love.

About Shady El-Hamus
Shady El-Hamus is a director and screenwriter. He made his successful theatrical debut with Orkater with The Death of Benny Simons. He also directed the feature film De Libi (Golden Calf for Best Screenplay) and was the first Dutch filmmaker with a Netflix feature film: Forever Rich.
About Ashgan El-Hamus
Ashgan El-Hamus is a screenwriter, director and columnist. She co-wrote De dood van Benny Simons with Shady El-Hamus and made the short films Birdland and Lois Lane for the NTR series Onze straat, among others. She is currently working on her feature film debut Al Baraneya.
About 'Ntianu Stuger
'Ntianu Stuger is an actor and playwright. She previously made A Night with Queen Angelito with Orkater and played the lead role in Wildfire. She also worked at ITA and the Toneelschuur, among others, and was named Volkskrant Talent of the Year.
About Shahine El-Hamus
Shahine El-Hamus starred with Orkater in Moeder van Europa and in various films and series, including Crypto Boy. He won a Golden Calf for his role in The Promise of Pisa.
About Yasper Molle
Yasper Molle is a composer, musician and arranger. Among other things, he composed for The Death of Benny Simons and worked with artists such as Bnnyhunna and Winne. Under the name 'Yasper' he played at festivals such as North Sea Jazz, Into The Great Wide Open and Down The Rabbit Hole.
About Dwight Breinburg
Dwight Breinburg is a singer, violinist, percussionist and co-founder of the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra. He previously composed and performed in the Orkater productions De Grote Ricardo and Café 749.
About Orkater
Orkater has past event the music theater company of the Netherlands for fifty years. It makes stories that are urgent and in which music is as important as language. The performances are direct, sensitive, daring and generous.
