From Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 24, the fourth edition of the Wonka Comedy Festival takes place for all inhabitants of the Brainport region and beyond. With comedy in all shapes and sizes again this year.
Again this year, Parktheater Eindhoven is an important play within the festival, with performances in Dutch and English. The Wonka Comedy Festival is an initiative of Wonka Podia: a successful collaboration between Parktheater Eindhoven, Kattendans Bergeijk, Theater de Schalm Eindhoven, Theater de Hofnar Valkenswaard and Het Speelhuis Helmond.
Laugh Together!
The Wonka Comedy Festival features a wide variety of international and national comedians on various stages in and around Eindhoven. In the Parktheater we welcome among others the following international acts
- Rogier Bak, who plays with cultural differences, language and identity confusion with great energy and sharp observations. After a previous successful edition, he returns this year and brings with him Nadine Froughi , half Iranian and half American, raised in the United States and now almost entirely Dutch. In her comedy, she cleverly and light-heartedly explores the cultural dynamics between her international background and her life in the Netherlands.
- East-European Stand-up Comedy, with four comedians from Romania, Estonia, Croatia and Serbia. Each with their own style, pace and humor, together they will provide an evening where four comedy cultures come together with one goal: to make you laugh hard.
- Sundeep Bhardwaj, comedy talent from India, tackles the topics that people usually don't talk about in neat companies such as politics, colonization and religion.
In addition, there are several Dutch-language performances, including the Finalist Tour of the Leids Cabaret Festival, Isabelle Kafando, Bert Visscher, Pretpakhuis, Merijn Scholten and Saman Amini.
This makes the Wonka Comedy Festival a broad and accessible program for everyone who loves comedy.
