Choreographer Stijn Celis made a contemporary adaptation of Swan Lake for the whole family. After the successful tour several years ago, Introdans brings this world famous classic back on play in a fresh, modern version. The dance language is powerful and expressive, with room for poetry, grotesque humor and a rich world of imagination.
This adaptation focuses on the strained relationship between Prince Siegfried and his domineering mother, the Queen. Siegfried's desire to escape the clutches of the monarchy adds depth to the story. Themes such as awakening the senses and finding one's own path make the performance relatable and compelling, even for young audiences.
Swan Lake is a grand spectacle in which the entire ensemble of Introdans shines. An impressive set and theatrical inventions strengthen the story, carried by Tchaikovsky's timeless and moving music. The result is a fascinating journey in which not a moment is bored.
The media about Swan Lake
"This Swan Lake is very lively. The costumes are colorful and festive, the conventions of classical ballet language are humorously subverted and the movements of the swans are intriguing: animalistic whimsical rather than romantically graceful." (Theaterkrant)
"The new modern version of Swan Lake at Introdans looks youthful and fris." (Theaterparadijs)
- Children must also be in possession of a ticket
"Boxing moves and animal manners: this free version of Het Zwanenmeer is full of happy surprises."
