Where would we be without our heroes? Everyone has a hero, big or small. And we love to honor them. Helden van het Zuiden is a collective of musicians of varying composition, led by Björn van der Doelen and his band De Huursoldaten, who honor their musical heroes through music and stories.
An intimate evening with music, conversations and stories. Björn van der Doelen invites his musical friends for a wonderful evening with their own favorite songs. They share their personal stories behind the songs, their fascination with their heroes and play the songs in a way that suits them.
It will be an unforgettable evening of Brabant musicality of the highest order!
Björn van der Doelen
Former professional soccer player and Goirle-based Björn van der Doelen (PSV, Standaard Luik, FC Twente and NEC Nijmegen) quit soccer before he was 30 to make music. By now he is five albums and hundreds of performances continue and Van der Doelen now stands as a natural on play. A character for whom the smile is never far away. Who can tell a story. Not poetic bullshit but true words.
Alissa May
Alissa May is a rock artist who translates personal experiences into powerful, emotional songs. With her debut album and singles like Put Me First and Addicted, she demonstrates a strong combination of raw honesty, dynamic rock and an intense play presence. Known for her ability to connect deeply with her audience, Alissa is a promising voice within contemporary rock music.
Quintijn Lohman
Quintijn Lohman is a musician, playwright and cultural booster. He is best known as the frontman of the brooding theater rock band Tigre Blanco. His career began in the psychobilly scene and ran through rock, theater and collaborations with diverse creators and musicians from home and abroad. Moving effortlessly between pop stages and theaters, Quintijn is known for his do it yourself mentality, his love of raw storytelling and his belief that culture emerges from the heart of the city.
Remme ter Haar
Remme's exceptional talent as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is undeniable. He started writing music when he was 12 years old and has past event working on his songs between his hometown of Eindhoven and Berlin, where he works in his studio, ever since. Inspired by Fleetwood Mac, Jeff Buckley, Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber, he writes powerful, carefully crafted pop songs.
Iris Penning
Eindhoven-based Iris Penning is a singer-songwriter, poet and organizer. Iris released four albums and was Eindhoven's longest-serving city poet (2020-2024). She started performing and entrepreneurship at the age of fifteen and has past event on play thousands of times: at festivals, pop venues and theaters throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. From Lowlands to Oerol to Paradiso, from live on the radio to intimate living room concerts, performing is her greatest love.
