Guus Hiddink 80 years

Subject to soccer developments, Phillip Cocu, Ji-sung Park, Jan Reker, Mart van den Heuvel and Kees Ploegsma Sr. will take their seats at the talk show table in Eindhoven.

Guus Hiddink is considered the most successful coach in Dutch soccer history. The world citizen from the Achterhoek won the European Cup 1 with PSV in 1988, reached the semifinals of the Champions League in 2005 and won the Dutch national championship six times. With Real Madrid he captured the 1998 World Cup for club teams, with the Dutch national team he reached the semifinals of the World Cup in France earlier that year and with Chelsea he won the FA Cup in 2009.

At least as impressive was his ability to make the most of apparent outsiders, as he did with South Korea (semifinal World Cup in 2002), Australia (second round World Cup in 2006) and Russia (semifinal European Championship 2008). It earned him honorary citizenship of Seoul and a statue in Crimea, among other honors.
