HOST OSCAR

Our hosts look forward to meeting you at one of the STROOM performances. It's going to be a season full of inspiring conversations with beautiful people about current issues that matter. Before they get to meet you, they would like to tell you a little about themselves.

We would like to introduce Oscar de Boer to you:

Tell us: who are you and why do you enjoy going to work? My name is Oscar de Boer, I have two children and have past event a regular visitor to this theater since I can remember. By profession I am a director, writer, teacher, singer and actor. As a performer, my first time on theatre was here, in the Globe auditorium. The Theaterplan Foundation played Shakespeare's Macbeth, I got to stand next to a car and I got to sing in the chorus. I was just sixteen then, now I am 43 and artistic director of the company where I started as a performer. I enjoy going to work because this, what I'm doing now, working in theater as whatever, is, what I love the most.

What are your biggest motivations? What a complicated question! What drives you? Ok. I don't know. Really, I wouldn't know. Or maybe I do, but the answer to that question is too complicated to just write down in a few lines. The flat answer is: Love

With this #throughSTROOM, we can make the world a little more beautiful every day! What inspiration do you think is important to share with others? "Love with decisiveness!" (Adelheid Roosen) I've lost track of when she wrote this or for whom. But it sounds good and to me it means something like: You must be willing to take action and in the extreme fight for the thing or the one you love.

How important do you think it is for people to become part of this #throughSTROOM? Quite important, performances cannot happen without an audience and the more audience the better. Through the conversations, creators and audiences can learn from each other.

Which STROOM MeetUp has stuck out to you the most and why? Exit Macbeth, by the NNT. Stuffed animals, no Macbeth, but witches and a gatekeeper. I wanted to ask a lot of questions to the actors in this performance, but unfortunately I couldn't because I had lost my voice. So I kept my mouth shut. This created a real conversation between players and audience.

The MeetUp gives the opportunity for great meetings and real conversations. Which person would you like to meet one day? Huub van der Lubbe

What is your secret to a good, in-depth conversation? Listen well and keep on asking until you really understand the answer.
