In November the whole of the Netherlands goes to the polls. The time to think about what democracy means. In November, the Park Parktheater organizes the theme month Let's talk about Democracy.

During Let's talk about Democracy we highlight democracy from different perspectives and discuss the active citizenship needed to support and improve it. Democracy as we know it in the Netherlands is not a given. It is shaped by you and me but also by external factors.

We offer a broad program of performances, lectures, dialogue tables, (youth) workshops and exhibitions at Parktheater, Pand P, Natlab, and Eindhoven Library.

It starts with watching

Are you aware of what is happening around you? Do you look back at your neighbor? Do you check similarities when differences are magnified? Democracy as we know it in the Netherlands cannot be taken for granted. A strong democracy needs active citizenship to support and improve it. Want to know how you can strengthen (local) democracy? It starts with looking!

• Look around you: Your neighborhood is the basis of democracy. What issues or decisions to be made do you think are important? Become aware of what is happening in your neighborhood.
• Look at others: Listen to the opinions and concerns of others. Be open to the arguments and perspectives of others, even if you disagree.
• Look at yourself: Ask af what you can contribute. Whether it's helping your neighbors or supporting neighborhood initiatives: small actions lead to big changes.
• What do you check? What caught your eye? Share it with us.

Be heard

Do you make yourself heard when important decisions are being made about your neighborhood? Do you strike up a conversation with someone on the street you don't know? Do you share your ideas for a strong and close-knit neighborhood? 💬

In an increasingly complex world, it is important to express your views, values and concerns. It forms the core from which all the decisions that shape our society are made. Your voice is more than a marker on a ballot, it is the voice of change. You can make a difference, make yourself heard!

• 💬 Show your voice: Cast your vote during elections is the most direct way to influence. Encourage others to do the same by telling them why their voice should be heard.
  
  
• 💬 Let your voice be heard: Share your opinions, views and ideas. Work with others to address issues you care about, such as joining community organizations or sharing your ideas with local politicians. Find connections and work toward common goals.

Put it in motion

You can make a difference! Every action, no matter how small, has the potential to change the world around us
The ripple effect is a concept from chaos theory that states that small events can have big results. Think of a stone you throw into the water. The ripples you check start out seemingly small, almost invisible. But gradually the ripples become larger and larger and more visible. And if you give them a moment, they can even transform into high waves. One person can initiate a ripple effect and positively change democracy!

• Inspire others: Share your ideas, views, values and concerns. You can be the drop that spurs others to action.
• Small actions, big consequences: you can set the ripple effect in motion. Set up that one project for your neighborhood, talk to local politicians about your ideas.
• Find connection with others: work together with others who share the same goals and values. Together you can create bigger waves of change.
