For five years, Ukraine has held out against Russian superiority, unbroken by heavy losses, bomb rains and cold. Where do ordinary people find the strength to carry on day after day? And how does Ukraine manage to reinvent itself as a modern country and leading innovation power despite the violence of war?

In Naar het front in Oekraïne, Tommy Wieringa and Jaap Scholten tell how Ukrainians survive between despair and heroism. Both writers are completely gripped by the country's desire for freedom. With their foundation Protect Ukraine, they already raised nearly 30 million euros and fifty aid convoys with all-terrain vehicles and life-saving supplies went to the front.

Using personal stories and penetrating images, Wieringa and Scholten show the surreality of everyday life here and the deadly front there - just a day's drive apart.

Ukraine is fighting not only for its own survival but also for ours, in Europe. In the short term the country desperately needs Europe, in the long term it is the other way around. After America's betrayal, Europe stands alone, and Ukraine represents a powerful security guarantee for the future. It now comes down to ourselves. How can we, even as individuals, take action?

To the front in Ukraine is an evening of theater full of gripping stories and infectious love of freedom that won't let you go.

Part of the ticket sales goes directly to the front in Ukraine.

The evening To the Front in Ukraine is a theater production by Haagsch College.
