On Friday evening, Feb. 5, 1943, a man rings the doorbell at the house of Hendrik Seyffardt, commander of the Dutch SS Volunteer Legion. Seyffardt, a former lieutenant general, opens the door himself. After several gunshots, he dies of his wounds the next day. Jan Verleun, 23, has thus completed his mission, but the hunt for him has begun.
