In this performance, cabaret and film come together in a unique, unforgettable experience. Porte Bagage tells the poignant story of the Idrissi family, who are faced with caring for their demented and stubborn father, Musa.

After the huge successes of Mijn vader de expat en Toen ma naar Mars vertrok, which together attracted no less than 40,000 visitors, production company Zouka returns to the theater after almost ten years with their long-awaited first feature film Porte Bagage. This special film will be shown exclusively in the theater. Director Abdelkarim El-Fassi and producer Asma El-Fassi worked no less than six years on this project, which was diep inspired by their personal experience as caregivers.

Preceding the film, cabaret artist Nabil Aoulad Ayad takes the theatre with a performance in which he shares in both a probing and humorous way what family means to him, how it has shaped him, but sometimes can also oppress him. Never before have you seen Nabil so personal.

This full-length program offers an intimate, layered look at the complexity of family ties, life dilemmas and the challenges of informal care, straight from the hearts of those involved. Cabaret and film come together in a unique, unforgettable experience!

"The moving and at times very funny film attracted (at least in Amsterdam) mainly Moroccan visitors. This is both beautiful and unfortunate, because it is actually a warm plea for mutual acceptance. "
