Mouna Laroussi and Walid Benmbarek are back together on play after 17 years. There where their love began. A chance meeting at a casting was the beginning of a life together. And now they return to that spot to perform their show together.
When Mounir buys a house in Morocco on the last day of their vacation without consultation, the conflict with his wife Salma seems simple. But what begins as a clash between two lovers unfolds in flashy, sharp dialogues into a deep-rooted conflict about identity, trust, inheritance and the meaning of home.
The performance explores what it means to build a life together in a country that doesn't always feel like home. How do you pass on a sense of ground and security to your children, when you yourself are still searching?
Gedeelde Grond is a newly written play by Max Wind, inspired by the personal stories of actors Mouna Laroussi and Walid Benmbarek. In a mix of humor, love and confrontation, not only a marriage unravels, but also the sense of holding on in a society under pressure. A probing relationship drama at the intersection of private and political, in which the ground literally and figuratively begins to shift underfoot.
Dialogue Table Foundation IK WIL: Home as a verb
Prior to the performance we would like to invite you to a Dialogue Table on the theme of home. In this workshop we explore together the idea of home. Not only as a physical place, but also as a feeling, as a memory, as something constantly in motion. We will discuss moments when we did or did not feel at home. On the basis of stimulating questions we explore what lies behind the feeling of belonging, and how personal experiences relate to larger social themes. Then together we lay the foundation of a common home. We translate our stories, values and feelings into tangible building blocks. What do we need to build a collective house where everyone can feel at home? Sign up for free via this link.
