Belle is so ashamed of her body that she has retreated into a forest. Far away from everyone. In an abandoned shack, which you only find when your heart is broken. Here in this place, Belle hopes she gets well as soon as possible.
As she sews glitter on her ball gown, the whole village is looking for her. Belle is startled, when suddenly there is a banging on the door of the shack. It is Lou - another girl from the village, who is also sick and dreams of distant planets. She comes to take shelter in the same place.
BEEST is a musical adaptation of The Beauty & The Beast. With cello, droning chainsaws and beautiful compositions by Lavalu (Marielle Woltring), BEEST takes a brand new look at the well-known fairy tale. A magical performance about loneliness, about a body that is different and about the healing power of friendship and fantasy.
The media about BEEST?
"Especially the singing parts should be mentioned here: not often are singing parts for actors given such a colorful approach in which the sung texts musically become a genre of their own." (Theaterkrant)
