Eindhoven-based theater maker Salman Dirir is affiliated with Thinx, an initiative by Parktheater supporting theater talents on their path to becoming independent theater makers. Salman creates performances at the intersection of film, dance, and music.

His roots lie in Somalia. He creates RUUN; an ongoing artistic and personal exploration in which he delves into his truths. RUUN means truth in Somali. It is an investigation into the contemporary relationship with our environment and our roots. At its core is the redefinition, questioning, and exploration of what truth means to us personally. How do I relate to my Somali-Dutch bicultural background? How do traces from the past shape the present?

Over the past year, he travelled to Somalia twice for his research. The performance is an artistic embodiment of the findings he has gathered.
