Where does technology end and humanity begin? Bart van der Sloot, associate professor at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society, specializes in regulation of technology, AI and human rights. In his lecture, he explores how AI and robots are becoming increasingly human and what this means for work, truth and our humanity.

Artificial intelligence is not developing step by step, but in leaps and bounds. What sounds futuristic today is tomorrow an app, a tool at work, or a creature sitting next to you on the train. The question is no longer whether AI will change our society, but how diep and how quickly. And especially: what it will ask of us as people, citizens and professionals.

In this lecture, we explore the big questions behind the technology. Not just what AI and humanoid robots can do, but what happens when they become more and more like us...? In behavior, language, creativity and maybe even in something that feels like consciousness. And we consider deep-fake technology, which blurs the line between real and fake on a scale we still barely comprehend. What happens to work and meaning when AI takes over many of our jobs? Should we ever grant rights to AI or robots? Will we soon be living in a post-truth era? Attend this lecture and be entranced by the future!
