María was born in Lebanon and adopted in the Netherlands. The temperamental young girl started flamenco lessons and studied with the elegant Mathilde Coral and the stately Manuela Carrasco, among others. She owes her style to the gypsy king Farruquito, with whom she studied daily for many years. In Seville, she was accepted into the musical gypsy family Amador.
In Santuario, María 'la Serrana' goes in search of the origin and soul of flamenco. Originating as a cry from the heart of the Andalusian population, and as a response to the persecution of Jews, Moors and gypsies. Enjoy an intense and intimate blend of special stylized singing and dancing in Santuario. Passionate, fiery, fervent.
Dance: Maria “la Serrana” | Special guest dance: Antonio Moreno “Polito” and Pepe Torres | Vocals: Juan Jose Amador, Juan Jose Amador “Perre” and Antonio Amador | Guitar: Luis Amador
