Two years ago, Stedelingen was founded, a partnership between Parktheater Eindhoven, the Carte Blanche Foundation and the Lunet Zorg care organization to offer people with intellectual disabilities a chance to perform on stage.
In the first performance, the city and its inhabitants stood central, with their struggle for existence, their loneliness, and their longing for love. The performance was a great success and ensured that the creative possibilities of this often-misunderstood group of people in our society became visible.
This collaboration between the Parktheater, Carte Blanche and Lunet Zorg is now being continued. The result is the performance De Koning is dood, leve de koning, based on three works by Shakespeare: Richard III, Henry V and King Lear.
In these plays, Shakespeare writes about power and impotence, good and bad, madness and love, about lack of self-esteem and the anger at society that this can cause. They are universal themes which are depicted in this performance in such a way that the linguistic distance is lifted.
The group of performers consists of participants from the Lunet Zorg care organization and from Carte Blanche. During the performance evenings, participants of Lunet Zorg are also active in the catering, audience reception and cloakroom of the Parktheater.
