At the request of Voorintholt, the Dutch choreographer Regina van Berkel made her new creation in a reflective landscape especially for Amazing Asia. She is inspired by the beauty of Asia and by music by the Chinese composer Zhou Long, among others. Van Berkel works together with the well-known Dutch Van Dingstee Quartet, whose musicians share the stage with the dancers.
For Kaash, the British-Bengali Akram Khan drew inspiration from the creative and destructive power of the Hindu god Shiva. In his dynamic work, the dancers let the tight geometric patterns breathe and suck, with arms that, eye-catchingly, cut sharply through the air.
