Pearl breathes the rich, theatrical atmosphere of the Baroque-era and is made with the speed and dynamism of today. Sensuality and splendor, but also decadence and intrigue, come to life in Ed Wubbe's swirling choreography. As grand and theatrical as Pearl is staged, so is it human in its drama. Pearl is about beauty and the inevitable decay. It has all the ingredients of a classic drama, with which it will steal many hearts once again.
For Pearl, the virtuoso baroque ensemble Combattimento recorded a special performance of mostly unknown arias and pieces of music from the baroque music treasury. The spectacular costumes make Pearl a visual feast for the eyes, allowing you to imagine yourself at a contemporary Venetian court.
