A poem on Facebook, a video of children building a shrine to their cat, the funeral selfie; in our subculture, everyone explores the boundaries of how to deal with mourning in public.

In Rust zacht Billy, a diverse group of actors dive in to previously delivered farewell speeches, the largest funeral hits and live streamed memorial services. In this performance, director Eva Line de Boer argues for a more open relationship with death and, thereby, embraces the internet as a new platform for shaping loss.
Because sooner or later, we will all have to deal with mourning and saying goodbye. Rust zacht Billy is an ode to attempts to shape the ultimate farewell and to summarize an entire life. The performance does not shy away from the uneasiness and taboos surrounding death, but rather, seeks out the boundaries between the personal, the strict conventions, and the hilarity that can arise as a result.

Reviews:

“The Netherlands has a special performance richer.” (Theater Paradise ★★★★)
"Impressive scenes, exciting layering." (NRC ★★★)
"Nice balance between irony and sincerity, a layered image is created about the nature of mourning." (Theaterkrant)
