Lucky for us this winter, South African Road Trip is coming to the Parktheater once again to warm things up. With joyous songs, delicate tunes, melodious harmonies, and exciting dance and music. Brought to you by the talented men from the famous Khayelitsha United Mambazo Choir, the women singers of Xhosa and South African musicians. Eye-catching costumes and beautiful digital backdrops with mini documentaries about the daily lives of the choir members complete the picture.
Especially poignant are the penetrating, personal stories of the choir members themselves. They speak frankly about their lives in the township, lives that are vastly different, yet have many similarities to our own. Birth, love, death: we all experience these things. Pleasure, sadness, hope: these are universal feelings. But what do you hope for when the prospect of real progress in your township is very small? Ubuntu, 'I am because we are', is the creed that the cast proclaims, an African Xhosa way of life that presumes that all people are connected.
The audience can immerse themselves for one-and-a-half hours in a pure and sincere South African experience. Heartwarming!
