Motion Lab

During Alesya Dobysh’s two-day program Motion Lab, you will be offered both physical and theoretical workshops given by international guest teachers with a variety of artistic backgrounds.

At the end of each day, a jam session will allow you to put your newly acquired skills into practice. Accompanied by musicians and DJs, experiment with your new skills alongside other participants. Artists will explore the boundaries between genres and disciplines, such as contemporary dance and street/club dance styles, music and movement, visual and physical, and they will work on the development of their own artistic language.

Organizer Alesya Dobysh is a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher based in the Netherlands. She has mastered House Dance, UK Jazz Fusion and other urban related techniques, studied the fundamentals of contemporary dance, actively participated in the battle scene, and won prizes at international dance festivals such as Juste Debout (France) and Summer Dance Forever (Netherlands) .

By deconstructing her urban dance background into an abstract language, Alesya is expanding her practice from the battle and club scene to theater and performance art. Motion Lab is the educational side of her research.
