We follow a white woman in search of her family history through her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and many generations before that. Blood ties that crossed continents in a quest for a better life. Singer Anne-Fay Kops and filmmaker Felix Kops traveled from the Netherlands via Aruba and Curaçao to Suriname and Ghana in search of stories about their origins. In all these countries, they made music with local producers and filmed images on the former plantations in Suriname, on the Atlantic Ocean and in a slave fort in Ghana. They incorporate the people, their stories and the music of this journey into songs full of hip-hop, soul, gospel, electronica and traditional styles from the countries of their ancestors.
In the run-up to this performance, Anne-Fay and Felix, in collaboration with Paradiso Melkweg Production House, made a music show with this material that premiered in the Melkweg. The show received critical acclaim. They conclude their journey full of personal stories, music, dance and XL visuals in the theater music show Anne-Fay's Reaspora.
