Here on 'De Eilanden', men live to be 80 years old and women only live three days. But then Katinka is born… Motherland tells the story of a combative woman who is different and who will resist the established order.

This solo performance by Jip Smit is an ode to the fantasy genre. He challenges you to push the boundaries of your imagination. By distancing ourselves from reality, we can actually better see and question our imagination. We may then find out that they differ less from us on 'De Eilanden' than we think. In a story full of black humor, the main character Katinka embarks on a dangerous quest for her identity. Where Game of Thrones and The Office intersect, current themes such as norm-thinking and male/female relationships are exposed. Katinka will have to face the evil of her past and free herself from the prevailing norm.
