Meisner and Gerris allow different dance styles to merge surprisingly into a vibrant mix of hip-hop and ballet.

Oscar Wilde's philosophical novel The Picture of Dorian Gray is about striving to stay forever young and losing yourself in it completely. Choreographers Ernst Meisner and Marco Gerris follow the storyline of Wilde's book in this adaptation, but place the story in a thriller-like setting, full of tension and suspense.Main character Dorian goes completely overboard in his lust for beauty and adoration, with all the consequences that this entails. He ends up in a downward spiral and gets entangled in a labyrinth in which he can no longer separate reality from fantasy.

After their successful family performances Narnia and GRIMM, choreographers Ernst Meisner and Marco Gerris join forces again and present their first joint production for adults: Dorian. In addition to dancers from the Junior Company and ISH Dance Collective, dancers from Het Nationale Ballet will also be participating in the production.

Joey Roukens, one of the most famous young composers in the Netherlands, is writing a new full-length piece of music especially for Dorian. In recent years, he has composed works for various Dutch and international orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, of which he was ‘composer in residence’. Meisner and Roukens previously worked together for the ballet In Transit.

"Dorian levert groots commentaar in een overweldigende versmelting van dans, muziek, videokunst en scenografie." ★★★★★
