In The Dutch Mountains marks Goecke's first full-length work for Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT 1). In it, he considers the absurdities of life and questions our sense of belonging, familiarity and becoming. He takes inspiration from Cees Nooteboom's fictional novel In de Bergen van Nederland and in the song In the Dutch Mountains by the Dutch rock band The Nits from 1987. They serve as a background for the strong artistic connections that the choreographer feels with the Netherlands.
