Verdriet is het ding met veren (Sorrow is the thing with feathers) is the title of the internationally successful debut novel by Londoner Max Porter. It is a moving story about a father and two sons, who are left behind after the sudden death of their wife and mother. Shortly after the loss, the three are visited by a cruel, unpredictable and caring Crow. Verdriet is het ding met veren is a musical theater performance in which Erik Whien's subtle, minimalistic style comes together with the impassioned and poignant lyrics from the book. Actors Jacob Derwig, Jesse Mensah and Romijn Scholten bring a grand story about parents and children, unconditional love, mourning and a crow.
- Jacob Derwig has been nominated for the Louis d'Or 2022 (prize for most impressive male supporting role) for his role in Verdriet is het ding met veren.
