Editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine, Liza Elliot ends up seeing a psychiatrist about psychological complaints. Three dream sequences take you into Liza's subconscious.

The 'Glamour' dream, the 'Wedding' dream and the 'Circus' dream form, as it were, a triptych of short operas. The themes of the dreams such as work and performance pressure, self-image, and self-fulfillment in a fast-paced and hectic society are more recognizable today than ever.

Together with conductor David Stern, director Anna Pool presents this Weill classic to Dutch audiences for the first time. In her directing, Pool reflects with a wink on the dated male-female relationships of the 1940s. "I let the audience know that we are all aware of the fact that this piece was written in a different time, while still allowing the audience to experience the original piece and Liza's journey."
