"If you deny my roots, you deny me"
HOME revolves around the question of what 'home' means. It is often more than bricks, more than a physical space. What makes you feel at home; where are you at home? Is it a place, the people around you, or is it a sense of belonging?
In addition to a large, adventurous ensemble of dancers – young talents and well-known faces – Conny Janssen delivers with HOME live music and works by soundscape artist Michel Banabila and cellist Maarten Vos composed especially for the performance.
HOME was also shown in 2017 and received the following rave reviews:
‘…an intensely comforting experience in a confusing time.’ (de Volkskrant *****)
‘...fascinating by the subtlety with which she allows all individuals to shine simultaneously within the whole. […] The attention to detail in Home is admirable and enriches the language of movement. That clarity is a great strength.' (Theaterkrant.nl ****)
'All her choreographies express compassion for the vulnerable person who searches for anchors in the chaos of life, for a place to be safely himself with others.' (NRC Handelsblad ***)
“As is often the case in my work, HOME is about the human being in relation to others and how we relate to those others. I think we are who we are through, with, in spite of, and because of those others. It has both a personal and a social side." Conny Janssen

About Conny Janssen
Conny Janssen presents pure dance that is colored with a human touch. Janssen also opts for dancers with an outspoken character who appear on stage as people of flesh and blood. Fragile, combative and passionate. The choreographer's motto: in a world that is becoming increasingly harsh and inhumane, we must make room for personal stories.
