Memory Loss is the third and final performance from Ann Van den Broek's penetrating triptych The Memory Loss Collection, on the theme of dementia and memory loss. In this trilogy, Van den Broek wants to provide insight, offer comfort and recognition, and make taboos about this topic, which affects nearly everyone, discussable.

In an interactive setting, some of the fifteen performers gradually begin to lose their own self. Text, movement, music and technology come together in a game of reality and illusion. Who are you when your memories fade away? The process is irreversible. Trapped in space and brain. All anchors fade away and the remaining signals point to unexposed paths. In this darkness, all connection with the material world evaporates. The ultimate loss of self. Loving and cruel. A bitter reality where no one comes out the same.

Annette Embrechts from the Volkskrant gave the performance five stars: “Memory Loss is an all-encompassing tour de force steeped in emotions (…) Ann Van den Broek finds a terribly beautiful form for a terribly cruel disease."

Memory Loss has been nominated by the Association of Theater and Concert Directors (VSCD) for a Swan for the most impressive dance production, the most esteemed dance award in the Netherlands. From the jury: "Memory Loss is a personal document: sincere and moving. Cruel and loving."
