Oostpool presents the Dutch premiere of Dennis Kelly's play Girls & Boys (2018). Director Daria Bukvić decided it was time to bring this theatrical cry for help about male violence to Dutch theaters.

An unexpected encounter at an airport leads to an intense and passionate love affair. Soon the young woman (Hadewych Minis) and the love of her life start to settle down. They buy a house, get married, have two children and juggle careers. The life they have built together is happy and similar to that of many, but gradually the fairy tale begins to crumble and their lives take a disturbing turn.

Playwright Dennis Kelly's critically acclaimed Girls & Boys is like a contemporary anti-Medea. A monologue that begins as a light-hearted fairy tale but turns into an unimaginable nightmare. With anger as its fuel, humor as its catalyst and humanity as its goal. Confronting, but above all, also imbued with affection, it’s an urgent appeal to love life and each other.
