Masculinity is something that everyone has to deal with on a daily basis. Gay, straight, man, woman or otherwise, everyone relates to what is expected of men (and women). It is therefore strange that 'gender' is seen as something for marginalized groups. Isn't it successful to question your masculinity as a man? "We can be proud that we are open, sweet or flamboyant. The differences between men and women are not nearly as great as we believe," said the disarming initiator Rikkert van Huisstede.
Whether you're straight or gay, asexual or bisexual, a construction site manager or a musical star, intersex or transgender, a young father or a drag queen, nobody fits exactly into the "man" category. The performers in the show Boys Won't Be Boys know by now how liberating it is to just open up. Through all the different stories, we smash through prejudices and stereotypes, and we come closer together.
The phone number 06-42280481 can be reached 24/7 for inspiration, information and previews of the social movement and theater performance. Let Rikkert sing for you, do a self-love workshop by phone, or you can share your own story (anonymously).
*where we use the terms men/boys we mean a wide range of people.
"With his collage/social movement/happening/theater performance, Rikkert has a powerful tool to bring people together."

About Rikkert van Huisstede
Rikkert van Huisstede (26) sings lovingly and confronts boundaries and pigeonholes. He studied at the Conservatory of Haarlem and was on tour with Herman van Veen for three years. Now he is the presenter, artistic director and producer of the show Boys won't be boys. With his production, he tries to create more space for boys and men to step outside the narrow ideal image of a man. He has an innovative view on themes such as gender, sexuality and love, and a singing voice which ranges four octaves.
