Four friends, one theater collective and thirty years of shared stories. In the new comedy Wat moeten we met Maartje? a close-knit company balances between play and reality. Their rehearsals get out of hand, their mutual bonds falter. And that is exactly what produces recognizable, hilarious and sometimes poignant situations.

For the first time, four audience favorites Jacqueline Blom(Oogappels, Ro Theater), Mark Rietman (Het Nationale Theater, Het Zuidelijk Toneel), Annick Boer(Kanniewaarzijn and her cabaret shows) and Dick van den Toorn(Loenatik, Ro Theater) will be on the floor together, directed by Pieter Kramer. Kramer, known for theater hits like Lang en Gelukkig and De Gelaarsde Poes, brings together his love of absurdism and surprising theater with their experience and chemistry. Expect a dazzling montage of Russian play exercises, dressing room confessions and hilarious arguments.

Wat moeten we met Maartje? is a comedy about friendship, loyalty and clashing characters, but also a performance in which the theater collective acts as a mirror: everyone recognizes the misunderstandings, the awkward silences, the fierce clashes and the warmth that keeps a group going. A comedy in which laughter and pain constantly alternate. With Jacqueline Blom as the elusive Maartje, Mark Rietman as control freak Nico, Annick Boer as the loyal Anneke and Dick van den Toorn as Rupert, the man who always played second fiddle.
