The Divine Body is primarily a performance about meat. The ham steak. The micropenis. Cannon fodder. Breast enlargements. Prosthetics. Vanity. Cuts. Knees that may or may not be given. And a few buttocks. Bare.

Het Goddelijke Lichaam is about the ease with which we let others die and the trouble we then have ourselves when sacrifices are asked for. About Chopped and Gaza. About Mee-eaters and Marioepol. About Football games and the bench full of Meat Substitutes. About everything. And Nothing. Of course the Vegetarian Butcher comes along. On roller skates. We also have a probing conversation with a fistula. And we'll talk about the peculiar desire of some to breathe their last breath as healthily as possible. Also, of course, we will talk about X-legs. Which Manuel brings himself. And about cannibals. And why that might be the salvation of a lot of very cute little pigs. Het Goddelijke Lichaam! You can touch it! With pleasure!

The media about Het Goddelijke Lichaam
"To poor understanders, Manuel may really seem like the bully he plays. Yet those cutting jokes are mainly a medicijn he prescribes himself to cope with all the injustice." (Parool)

"In his nineteenth cabaret performance, André Manuel from Twente stands on the toes of his audience with visible pleasure. This causes some discomfort and friction, but is also exciting." (NRC)

"His stretched leg barely shows signs of wear and tear."
